As it did me, I think this “vintage-style” poster advertising for magician assistants will bring a smile to your face. (Especially if you are a fellow magician!)

You never know what guests will pop around to see us while we are working or rehearsing. In this case it was a big live lizard – that surprised us all!!!
Thailand is known for it’s large reptiles, but this is the first time I encountered one this close up. My dogs where going crazy and chasing it around too, but I kept them at a distance for their safety. We chased & chased him all around the warehouse until he rested for a while under my tool case you see below. After that, my Thai neighbor helped and he was carefully escorted out the door to the field from which he came from.
Never a boring day here at the Joe Conrad Magic Company. 🙂

While in Vladivostok, Russia hiring a new team of dancers (for an upcoming tour) I snapped this breathing taking pic from my hotel lobby.
Even though a bit overcast, the view of the ocean is breathtaking.
(Before those of you that might ask, that is not a line in the middle of the photos. It is a crazy electrical cable hanging down from the hotel roof for some work they were doing!)

Just saw this new follow-spot chair from TAF – Truss Aluminum Factory. REALLY COOL!!! I want it!
(They did all the trussing for our show btw… Excellent stuff!)
Don’t know how I missed this… As far as I know it hasn’t been officially released yet. An all-star cast with Woody Harrelson, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo and Isla Fisher.
If you look carefully, you can see that they used some of Jon Racherbaumer’s library as background props.
Looks good!

A very Happy New Year to everyone for 2013. It has been our honor to entertain you this past year. Our best to you and your family and may all your dreams come true.

The Christmas season is amongst us already. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all of our friends, family, clients, vendors and colleagues all over the world. Please enjoy our 2012 Christmas card below.

An inspiring story of Olawetu Dyantyi from Cape Town, South Africa. Nice contrast to some of petty bickering we see many times in our spoiled magic community.
See the full story here.
I finally have found some time to post these pics of my previous trip to Owen Magic Supreme in Azusa, California. Alan Zagorsky and Gertrude Smith are always great hosts. And Alan is one of the most under-rated magic illusion designers in the business with a vast research library. (As well as his vast decades of experience!)
I still feel Owen Magic is still the most solid builder in the business, and their illusions will perform & last solid over time.
And don’t judge their illusions just by what is in their generic catalog. Their creative designs are awesome too, but Alan keeps them off the website and out of the paper catalog for a reason! (I should say their smaller & medium-size magic apparatus is awesome too – of which I own several pieces…)
